Rawdon Allen releases charity single
Nearly nine years after being widowed, singer-songwriter Rawdon Allen has rebuilt his life through friends, volunteering, community groups and a return to his lifelong love of making music.
Now he is using his music to raise funds for 2 local charities.
Rawdon has recorded a special charity version of his original song, Still 18, which is all about how we can still feel “young at heart” despite growing older. The recording features guest singers alongside groups and choirs from the 2 charities, Age Concern Lutterworth & District, Lutterworth & District Charity Shops (supporting Blood Cancer UK) and also the Wycliffe Lutterworth U3A group. (Think of Band-Aid but on a much smaller scale!)
This release is available exclusively on the bandcamp platform on a pay-what-you-want basis. Everyone can listen and download it for free, but if supporters are able to make a contribution, every purchase will help support these two wonderful causes.
Sarah Boot, General Manager of Age Concern Lutterworth & District, said the funds will support activities, day trips and social groups that help reduce loneliness and isolation.
Lesley Shaw of Lutterworth & District Charity Shops said she hopes the project raises both funds and awareness, and that everyone enjoyed taking part in recording the song.
Rawdon said: "This has been a wonderful community effort, bringing together talented local musicians and singers for two worthwhile causes. If the song raises money, introduces more people to these charities and brings a smile to listeners, then it will have achieved exactly what I hoped."
